Dr. Fernando Azpiroz Vidaur

I graduated from the University of Valladolid Medical School in 1977, and after specialization (MIR progam, Hospital Clínico San Carlos, Madrid 1978-82), I obtained a Fulbright scholarship to start a research program in the United States (Mayo Clinic, 1982-85, which was distinguished with the Edward C. Kendall Award and the Extraordinary Prize of Doctorate (Universidad Complutense, Madrid 1986). Subsequently, I developed an academic career at the Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron and the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona, where I served first as Chief of the Section of Digestive Function and subsequently as Head of the Digestive Diseases Department. I have contributed in leading roles to national and international scientific societies, and in editorial functions in high impact journals. Currently, I lead a consolidated team of researchers with high productivity, continuous funding and international recognition in the area of Neurogastroenterology.
